This Fruity Wine Sangria is best made using

Hardys The Chronicles Butchers Gold Shiraz 1.5L

De Bortoli Reserve 2LT Merlot

Yalumba Classic Dry Red

  • 2 apples (diced)
  • 2 oranges (sliced)
  • 1/2 cup brandy
  • 1/4 cup Cointreau
  • 750mL red wine from one of our suggested cask wines
  • 2 to 3 cups sparkling water; chilled

Cut the oranges into thin slices. Dice the apples but leave the peels on.

Transfer the cut fruit to a jug.

Poor the brandy over the fruit.

Measure the Cointreau and pour it into the jug.

Add the cask wine to the jug and stir to combine.

Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight. It gets much more delicious overnight in the fridge.

When ready to serve, top off the sangria with sparkling water. Stir gently to combine. Taste and add more if desired.

Scoop a few pieces of fruit into each glass when serving. Add a slice of orange to each glass as a garnish.
